Now, on to Baton Rouge, Louisiana!
Many, many thanks to Sandra Guilbeau of the Quilt Corner shop for sticking around to talk with me and for her lagniappe*! It was such a pleasure to spend time with the great ladies of Baton Rouge.
The Quilt Corner is a faboo shop, filled with beautiful fabrics, books, patterns, classes — oh my!!

a wide assortment of LSU fabrics in the special corner — lucky quilting fans!
Here is the quilt that Sandra, Linda and Kathy were talking about. The description of each of the motifs in the quilt are explained in detail in the podcast. Close-ups are shown below. I didn’t get a close-up of the bottom left corner is the Hurricane Katrina.
Sandra took the time to place the notes for “When the Saints Come Marching In”

Closeup detail of Sandra’s beautiful machine quilting:
One of four Fleur-de-lis designs and some creative writing in the sashing.
An amazing quilt, is it not?
The Quilt Corner has several talented quilt designers who also teach at their shop. One is Sherry Herringshaw’s Lagniappe Quilt Designs’ “Oh My Gish” pattern. Believe it when I say that the following two quilts are miniatures that are so precise that you will stand amazed. The Log Cabin is 11″ x 11″ !!

And the “Bunkhouse Banners” by On Pins and Needles. They come in seasonal varieties — I love this type of applique!

I will feature Kathy Brown in upcoming podcast, along with her fabric and every wonderful thing. So stay tuned!

Gorgeous San Antonio architecture!
Tracy’s mom’s bed, where I stayed.. look familiar? It’s Amy Butler bedding! Tracy says that she wouldn’t make a quilt for her mom because her mom asked her to make her a quilt that she can take on a picnic — I’m with you, Tracy!
Terri Soll, Creative Sewing Center owner, models her own creative outfit. Her pants are embroidered and her Kimono-style jacket is embroidered on top of the seams — beautiful!

Here is my sweet friend, Pat, with a fresh stack of blocks that haven’t been hung yet.
Pat’s mom, Jean — showing off her crocheted table mats. Jean makes these for the shop from the strip remnants. Isn’t that a great use of leftovers?
