Gumbo for breakfast, YUM!
King cake with a baby inside – pre-Mardi Gras
I was talking with my friends and we seem to have had a disagreement where the strawberry capital of the world is. They claim it’s in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. I think it’s in Watsonville, California – a town I lived in when I was a little girls. Click this LINK to see what others think about it.
A basket full of quilt-y goodness.
Driving across the swamp lands, I saw these skinny trees with moss growing off of them. WebGuy thinks they are bald cypress trees. Click HERE to see what I am talking about.
I’m In Mississippi, Really!
Mardi Gras dress at the Mississippi Visitor’s Center

You know, the king cakes at Walmart come with your own set of Mardi Gras beads. Woo woo!
I’m in Alabama now, really I am.
In this program, I speak about cotton and how some of our world’s cotton supply is still coming from the US of A. I’m surprised that cotton is still being grown in America, but it is. Look at the map below and see where most domestic cotton comes.
Amazing, huh?

Hi Annie, I’m a new listener and I’m really enjoying your trip. I love how you got choked up about how nice the quilters you’ve met have been. I believe that quilters are the best humans on this earth. I also agree that there is nothing like southern hospitality. It’s the greatest! Thanks for taking us along on your trip. Peggy in frigid St. Louis
Hi Annie,
Well, you just left, and already I’m kicking myself for forgetting to ask my girls to take a picture of us! It was SOOOOO wonderful to meet the woman behind the voice on these podcasts I enjoy so much. If you get over our way to teach, I would love to visit with you again and take your class. Have fun with your son and daughter-in-law. Hope they/you enjoy your sweet treats. Safe travels and continued blessings to you and yours. Denise
Hi Annie, I am also a new listener and am completely enjoying myself… when I heard you speak about the wonderful quilt shop you visited in San Antonio I kicked myself as I was just there in July at a conference. I am a long arm maching quilter and love how you’re finding so many quilting connections along your journey… stay save and have a wonderful time visiting with your family… Keep us in mind her in NH where it was 14 below 0 this morning.
What a courageous and adventuresome woman you are! I was in Scottsdale, AZ Jan 8-12 and didn’t know you were on a road trip until I returned home! I would
have met you in Phoenix and brought you a meal! You
really pushed ahead like a trooper! I listened to your podcasts when I returned home and kept you in my thoughts and prayers.
Fondly,
Emily in Truckee
So glad you are feeling better and that you are having a safe trip 🙂
