Program 122 – The 3rd Anniversary Show!!

podcast
Running time: 01:07:03 Size: 23.2MB

Here is the Quilt Border that inspired the new look of the SimpleArts website.
I designed it in 2002 to use in a tribute quilt for my maternal “Gran”, Gertude Cantell Smith.

Here’s my favorite picture of Gran, as a young girl graduating from grammar school. The 8th grade was as far as she would go, as her father thought it was a waste of time for a girl to get a high school education. That was a luxury only his two sons would get. His daughters all started work in the local cannery to help support the family income. I love my great-grandfather dearly, but I will never understand the logic behind his decision that made a huge impact on the rest of my Gran’s life…

Daughter, Kirsten is talking embroidery in this show! Check-out her blog Funky Charming to see the links that she spoke about.

My son, Robin plays on today’s anniversary show.
What’s he doing with his quilting skills? Listen to the podcast and learn!

If you have a MySpace account, click HERE to listen to some songs by the band he’s in and see more pictures of the young Turk.

I’m going to make this some time soon. Guy says it looks like someone is playing with Exploring Fabric Choices.

Thank SO much for listening — Quilting Stash is only here because you listen!

  1. Hi Annie – I loved your “3 Year Anniversary Special ” and thank you for you great editting skills and not making me sound like a complete dork! I’m still shocked you called ‘little old me’ and I’m sure my constant “laughter” can attest to my nervousness! So great to hear Kirsten (cute and funny as always), Robin (How talented and handsome is he or what!!!) and of course my fav. – hubby “Web-Guy!” – that “I’m Doing a podcast” montage had me ROTFL! So cool!

You want to hear a good one – my 26 yr, old electrical engineer son Greg, who was the 1st to tell me about podcasts and I should do a search back a few years ago when I first got an I-pod, for “quilting or sewing or something…” and therefore found yours, wanted the “link” so he could listen to it also – would’ve never thought that could happen – LOL!!

You continue to be my favourite podcaster – wishing you many more years of continued success and I remain forever a satisfied and entertained listener!

  2. I think your listeners did great with their phone calls. I’d have been stammering along trying to think of the right thing to say! I’m amazed that everyone seems to have a I-pod. I listen on my computer but have never had any I-pod type of device. Maybe I need one and just don’t know it!

  3. Annie!

Loved the show, so glad you’ve been on for 3 years. Can’t believe I found it about a year ago. Also, so many similarities in our family. Returned Missionary was in a band!! It served him well on his mission. He and his companion were asked by the President’s wife to compose the Montreal Mission Song! I’ll have to send it to you. The Hubby has done the kidney stone thing! Hope you’re better.

Take care! Can’t wait to do lunch in June! Lauri

  4. Annie,

I was doing a little hand quilting while I listened to your anniversary show. I was touched by Robin’s music and actually teared up when he said he hopes to play with his grandfather some day. I hope you will include him in future episodes. I love to hear from Kirsten and look forward to hearing her “younger” point of view. And as always Annie, you and Web Guy do a great job. Keep it up.

  5. Hi Annie- I loved this podcast
Happy Anniversary! I loved hearing your family. Robin is adorable….can I adopt him?
I also loved your mini interview with Denise-the quilter with young children. I love to see a young woman bitten by the quilting bug.
Also, thanks for introducing me to Mark Lipinski and Quilters Home. I, too, laugh hysterically while I read from cover to cover.

  6. Annie,

I didn’t get a chance to listen to your anniversary show but it is on my list of things to do. However while checking out your website for new things, I was drawn to your “Gran’s” picture. I’m a student of Fashion Merchandising and we just covered textiles. I notices your grandmother’s beautiful linen dress and the detail work in the dress. I just wanted to say how beautiful the dress was and your “gran”. She looks like the picture of class!
