What a beautiful quilt! I’m looking forward to checking out your links. Thanks. 🙂
Hi Annie! Hearing your talk on machine vs. hand quilting just reminded me so much of my very first quilt I tried to machine quilt myself. It was a twin size quilt for my daughter and about half way through my arms were so tired and the pattern was getting very sloppy. It became a chore instead of a pleasure. When I finally finished, I knew I had to do something different. I’m too lazy to quilt by hand because I get bored quickly and would have a million UFO’s sitting around. So, after much searching – I found the book Lap Quilting by Georgia Bonesteel. (? i hope that’s right) Her technique really helped me feel like I could be successful at machine quilting myself. Maybe it will help someone else especially beginning quilters like me.
Great show!

Hi Annie:
As always – enjoy your “chats” immensely. Congratulations on the impending arrival of your new “baby” err or sewing macjine I mean – LOL! You’ll love it – as I know I’ve enjoyed my 1500 PQ since getting it.
About the time I got mine I invested in a copy of the book: “Machine Quilting – A Primer of Techniques” by Sue Nickels (American Quilter’s Society, 2003) – this is an excellent source of info. as you begin to machine quilt and esp. free-motion, there are lots of tips and practice designs and even quilt patterns. I even found the most fool-proof method of sewing on and achieving perfect mitred corners in this book – it was worth it for just this alone – lol! My “Latte” quilt, the one I sent you a picture of earlier, would never have tirned out so well without this book!(no afilliation – just one very satisfied customer!)
Happy quilting!

Annie,
On my birthday, son introduced me to the whole podcast thing with an MP3 player already “filled” (Is that the correct term?)with all of your podcasts. I enjoy them so much and am anxious for the next program. The one about stash management really hit home and I have vowed not to purchase any more fabric for at least a couple of weeks–days?? That said, I was just looking at Big Horn Quilts 🙂 and saw this fabric. I immediately thought of you; and although, you have probably seen it, I’m sending a link just in case.
