  1. I wanted to let you know, I have recently aquired some hand sewn quilt tops made by my Great-Grandmother Reid. I have never been a quilter, but I have caught the fever and i’m going crazy for knowledge. Unfortunately I live in a small community with no fabric store, (oh yes, we have Walmart) I have to drive at least an hour to buy the really good stuff, or order online, I have not found any type of quilting group in my town, but I am not giving up. I love my Ipod and happened to type in Quilts the other day and I wanted to tell you, I love your podcaast. I am current with the shows now.

I have not hand stitched the quilt tops I found, I am knotting them, I do plan to start doing the hand stitching. I just have to jump in.

One thing that I have found interesting that I wanted to share with you is, I have 3 boys, 23, 20, and 13, they participate in the Civil War Re-inactments. They have each had me make a quilt for them to use when out on the field. I would never have dreamed my boys would ask for quilts. They originally asked for lightweight quilts for Summer, now they want heavyweight quilts for the Fall and Winter events. I can’t tell you how pleased I have been, and busy. Can you give me some history on knoting quilt tops. I am doing this because I can remember my Great-Grandmother doing this and the boys wanted Quilts to be Civil War period. I have purchased Civil War Fabric reprints.

Do you have anything you could share with me.

    Thank You,
    Cindy Dailey
