I decided that it’s finally time to empty out my “Treasure Box” to make room for the new treasures that will be sent to me with the advent of Fall Quilt Market. So, in regular style, I’m passing on the goodies and gems to you.

But before we go there, I want to remind you that the Exploring Fabric Choices online class registration has been extended to October 15th. Which means, you have until October 15th to sign up for the most important workshop you will ever take. On October 16th, registration will close and it will go into the Quilting Stash Classroom archives. Don’t delay — you will have 30 days from the day you sign up to complete the workshop, which is usually completed in 2 days.

Here are the rules before we start:

Leave me a comment for each book you desire to win. Do not leave me a comment with a list of books you desire to win — I will delete any comments that has a list of books. I want one comment for one book. You can leave as many comments as you wish. You can win more than once, if I draw your name.

In the comment field, I want to know why you like this book, what inspires you, etc. so I can give that feedback to the Publishers — who want to know!

I will draw the lucky winners on October 19th — so please comment!

Here are the books for the Giveaway:

These next two books, and only these two books, are counted as ONE Giveaway:

and last but not least…

so, good luck! And remember the rules for entering the Giveaway, located at the top of the blog!

  1. Annie,
As always a very good podcast. Thank you for the book review. I find the book selection so overwhelming and your review made it approachable.
I really appreciate your efforts and look forward to enrolling in your class someday.
    ann

  2. Thanks Annie – own a couple of your books already and one on order too but am really curious about the 1st one “The Elegant Art of Hand Embroidery – Embellishment and Applique” as wondered if machine applique techiques (like yours that I love!) would work with the designs?

  3. Hi again – I have a HV D1 so I’m really excited to put my name in the drawing for Piece in the Hoop. I’ve done something like this before (I assume since I’m going off of your description) and want to do more. Thanks for doing this for us.
p.s. I think the picture on the front would draw me to pick up the book at a store also.

  4. I’d also like to be put in the drawing for Stash with Splash Quilt book. For some reason, I have started taking my left over fabrics and cutting them either into strips or squares, thinking that someday I would have sets to give to other quilt friends. I never have given away my scraps and have found that I’m a scrappy kind of girl! I’d love some ideas son how to use the scraps.

  5. Annie – I want to thank you for taking the time to do these book reviews. If I dont win any, it will be ok because I’m always looking for great books to put on my christmas list. Some people don’t like buying fabric (and I have plenty that I’ve gotten as gifts that are just gathering dust). This is GREAT!!

  6. Sew the Perfect Gift – With Christmas coming up soon, and my passion is to make gifts for others, I think the way you described the designers and items sounds perfect.

  7. I’ve read “These Is My Words” and “Sarah’s Quilt”, but just wanted you to know I loved them as much as you did!

  8. The Art of Elegant Hand Embroidery, Embellishment and Applique – This book sounds intriguing, a great resource to go to, and appears so much knowledge in it. I love applique and embroidery, yet haven’t tried embellishments but would love to.

  9. Bloom Creek Quilts
I’ve actually had my eye on this book for a long time. I look how she incorporates applique into her quilts, and love the tradional modern style.

  10. Simple Graces
I LOVE Kim Diehl’s books. I have her Simple Traditions boo already and cherish it. Each of her quilts are beautiful!

  11. The Big Book of Patchwork
I love Judy Hopkins books, how she includes the resizing of blocks. I’d love another of her books to add to my collection. Oh my, I didn’t know she had passed, so sorry to hear.

  12. Another Bite of Schnibbles
I LOVE Schnibbles! I have several little patterns, plus Schnibbles Times Two!

  13. Country Threads Goes To Charm School
Little quilts are perfect to make for gifts. Using charm packs for them could only make the process more simple and I’d love to try them.

  14. Quilts of Thimble Creek
Just the name makes me love it! Though I live in California, unfortunately I’m in southern, and was not near Walnut Creek. Hearing you speak of the this book and all the designers, and knowing this book is no longer in print, makes me want to treasure it.

  15. Hop To It!
I’ve seen ladies in my applique club making blocks from this book. They are absolutely beautiful! I would love an opportunity to try. I’ve also seen blocks made from her Friendship Strips & Scraps… just amazing!

  16. “Fresh*Quilting – fearless color, design and inspiration” would be a great addition to my libray. Listen to and enjoy your podcasts regularly. This book my inspire me to put all my orphan blocks to work!
    Terry Back

  17. Annie,
I love Sharon Pedersen’s book Rose of Sharon. Her sense of color is just beautiful and elegant.
Could I make a quilt that sparkles as much? I would love to try!

  18. Hi Annie,
I have always been intrigued about making a jacket from a sweatshirt, so I love the idea behind Start with a Sweatshirt. This would inspire me to try something new!

  19. Hi Annie,
I have several books by Kim Diehl, so Simple Graces would round out the collection. I really like her combination of piecing and applique.

  20. Hi Annie, I heard you mention “Sewing Pottery by Machine” on your podcast. I don’t know if this one is included in your give-away, but I am also intrigued by these projects and hope to try making one of these items soon!

  21. I would love to win The Art of Elegant Hand Embroidery. I love doing handwork, and sometimes I think a lot of it is getting to be a lost art. I would love to try some advanced embroidery – and hopefully be able to teach some techniques at the quilt shop I work at Heart and Had DryGoods – here in Sioux City, Iowa. All the new machine techniques are fun – but I love the satisfaction of something done well by hand..

  22. Stash with Splash would be fun to have. I have an ENORMOUS stash that has plenty of splash. I am determined to get through some of it this winter and this book sounds like it has great ideas. I know many quilters in my circle that might want to take a look at this book. My Guild is always looking for stash busting classes, and this might be a good book from which to show some examples.

  23. I would surely enjoy Hop to It. I love Edyth Sitar’s style – she combines applique and piecing so beautifully. I have read some interesting articles about her and I think I heard you interview her on your podcast as well? When I thumb through her books I sigh, wishing I had time to make them all. Samples of her work that we make for our shop are always admired by the customers.

  24. I would love to receive the Rose of Sharon book. I feel like I have a few good applique quilts in me dying to get out! All of these books based on contests are so interesting. The cover on this book is stunning.

  25. The cover of that Flower Show Book just blows me away. This looks like an interesting book to help me get comfortable with larger scale applique. I so enjoyed listening to all your reviews of these books. I always listen to your podcast while I am on the treadmill – thanks so much for distracting me from my agony!

  26. I enjoy your podcasts very much. I am interested in the Flower Show Quilts book. I am a new quilter but this sounds to interesting.
    Thanks!

  27. I have a new embroidery machine. Piece in the Hoop would be a good addition to my project library. Enjoy your podcasts.

  28. Start with a sweatshirt is an interesting challenge to refresh my sewing skills as well as various embellishment techniques.

  29. I would absolutely love the “Christmas quilts and more”book. There is nothing in the world like family and friends sharing the spirit of Chtistmas and making things for those I love is part of that! I have to start early so maybe ideas from this cool lookong book can inspire me for 2012. I can still dream and plan this year though.

  30. Thanks so much for the book reviews. Fascinating! I’d love the Judy Hopkins’ Big Book of Patchwork retrospective, as I am a traditional quilter at heart.

  31. What an opportunity! I would like the Quilts of Thimble Creek to learn more about some of the giants in the quilting industry. I’m very interested in the history of the art of quilting.

  32. Kim Diehl’s book, Simple Graces, looks like a book that would give a contemporary spin to some traditional blocks. I’d love to win that.

  33. Quilting: Line and Color looks like a book that would expand my skills. I would love to experiment with a modern feel, learn new techniques, and the Japanese style would stretch my aesthetic. Thanks, Annie!

  34. Wow Annie – big giveaway and a great list of books so I’ll be leaving a few comments.

Going down the list: I’d love “Piece In the Hoop”. One dream is to invest in an embroidery machine and knowing that I could make quilt projects in it too would be a plus for me.

  35. Next on my list: the “Big Ass Book of Home Decor”. I just moved earlier this year so am always on the look out for decorating ideas.

  36. I’d also love “Bloom Creek Quilt”. I finished my Aunt Grace “Circle of Friends” BOM quilt top this year which is also designed by Vicky Bellino so would love to see some of her other designs.

  37. Next up: “Simple Graces”. I love the look and coloring of Kim Diehl’s quilts and this one has been on my book wish list for a while.

  38. Almost done: “Fresh Quilting” looks interesting. Lately I’ve become interested in exploring all the books about “modern quilting” and this looks like it’s up that alley.

  39. I’d also like: “Quilting: Line + Color”. As noted in my previous post, I’m interested in exploring books about “modern quilting” and have heard so much about the quilt styles of Japanese quilters so would love a book that is an introduction to both.

  40. Last one: “The Rose of Sharon Block Book”. After learning to do hand applique last year, I am all over anything about the subject. I also have plans to design a couple of Baltimore Album style projects so am interested in anything with examples of that style as well.

That’s it for me. thanks again Annie for the opportunity to win something and good luck to all in the giveaway!!!

  41. The Christmas Book ,”Candy Cane Lane” is what I meant in the comment above… I was using my Ipad and i am not very good with it so by the time I got to the comment part I had lost the name in my head… but it looks so cute. This comment just edits my last one… anne

  42. The other book I could really use would be “Fresh Quilting”. I enjoy the whimsical style and the fun and unusual colors. This is like a giant super creative quilt library! HEAVEN! Keep up the good work. Have enjoyed Web Guy and your photographic talents.

  43. Sewing Pottery By Machine sounds SOOOOOOOO fun. I have done some just figuring it out by myself where I just wrapped the fabric around the next row every few wraps… and it was ok but this zig zag sounds better. Having a book is such a comfort and kind of prods me to do that thing “someday”. This sounds like a good car or night time movie project. I think using the batiks sounds so fun and would take this from a colonial craft (if primitive colors used) to a modern fun look. Thanks for the felting review too!!! Excited about your new grandchild coming in NC ( I am the one from Kitty Hawk). Did you know that if it is a girl she will be a “G.R.I.T.S.” (Girls Raised In The South). My daughters are GRITSBY (Girls raised in the south by Yankees). Anne
